The desktops are 'locked' so you can not create customs by user or user
group. Meditech has created versions for a Pharmacist and Technician in
PHA for example, and that is all there is. An example is that Print
Refill Lists is only on the Tech Menu.
Once in a routine such as Dictionaries there is no way to restrict to
E/E vs View, or to provide access to only one page of the Drug
Dictionary.
There is also no way to create a desktop icon link to a routine in
another application or to add custom reports except to 'back out' to the
main menu where you choose applications and add the item there.
Meditch is working with the beta sites to tweak these set-ups but as you
know the requirements for access can change at each institution and
while I agree that multiple random menus are difficult to manage this
seems to have gone to the opposite extreme.

Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Meditech and Version 6

Hi Ruth,
It is a C/S platform that is a fancier version of the original C/S.
A few things I can say about it

1. It is pretty
2. The careplanning routine is awesome-everything we have ever
asked for
3. Dictionaries are more integrated. In other words EDM and NUR are
built in the same place
4. Filing the dictionaries and doing look ups to dictionary entries
is a little different-not sure how to explain that
5. It has not been written for all of the applications
6. I think you can migrate some apps to it if you are C/S, but not
sure about magic
7. I don't think they have written anything for a report writing
application, but my guess will be that it will be vastly different then
what we are used to
I was in marketing at Meditech and I left 2 years ago, so things may
have changed
