We are a Meditech Magic 5.5 facility. We have no automation in our dispensing process and are encountering issues related to future dated charges. We would like to know how other facilities operating in a similar manner are dealing with this issue. We use a refill list to generate charges for the patients that we serve via our daily cart fill system. However, these charges are generated on one day with administration scheduled for the next day; so our date of service does not coincide with our charge date. What have other facilities done to address this?
Also, how are other facilities without automation dealing with medications that are returned from each unit on a daily basis? What is the process for crediting these medications and what is the date of service that is used to process the credits?
