Living as close to Americus as I do, I'm ashamed that I didn't bring this up earlier. Sumter Regional is a fantastic facility staffed with wonderful people and the town of Americus is full of historic buildings that were damaged. At this point, the following items are needed to help continue with the clean-up and restoration of the area:
Personal hygiene items Baby diapers Food Paper products Paper plates Plastic cutlery Canned food Leather work gloves Plastic trash bags Cleaning supplies Here at Colquitt Regional, we are taking up donations to deliver to the area this weekend. The tornadoes that hit in the South Georgia area on Thursday night were horrendous and did a great deal of damage, not only in Americus but also in other smaller communities. Baker, Worth, Sumter and Mitchell counties all sustained damage. The tornadoes were 38 and 50 miles long, a mile wide, and EF 2 and EF 3 in strength. Enterprise, AL also needs prayers and support.
