Have you come up with language to identify patients who need translation
services that doesn't over or under select? For example, I have seen
hospitals use "primary language" as the jump off point for more
questions - yet I know plenty of people who speak fluent English, even
though their primary language is something else. I've also seen "Needs a
translator" - yet that might leave too much to the discretion of someone
who really isn't in a good position to make the judgment. So it seems to
me there must be a better way, and I wonder what's working for others.
