Hi Kathy, Our staff has complained about the way the procedure appears
on the preference cards. When I spoke to Meditech about it they offered
to look at it for $$$. Sounds like Iatric is once again the way to go.

Our team cannot stand the preference cards. We will actually being
calling Iatric to create a custom preference card layout for us. We
came from MSM and they liked that preference card so much better, but
I'm hoping with Iatric help we can create preference card utopia! I
would love to be able to have some great wins with the ORM system versus
Picis Magic Surg system.

Thanks!
Dee

WE HAVE BEEN USING MAGIC SINCE 2004 AND HAVE NOT FOUND IT TO BE AN ISSUE
NOR HAVE WE HAD COMPLAINTS FROM OUR STAFF AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE WE HAVE
HAD NO ONE MAKE ANY MISTAKE BASED ON THE MNEMONICS

Hi Kathy,

Yes, we recognized this as a definite issue. We asked Meditech for a
custom quote several years ago and were going to pursue the custom with
them, but ended up instead having Iatrics (lower bid) build us a custom
preference card that includes the full description of both primary and
secondary procedures and also the mnemonic for each procedure. It can be
done and it works fine. This prints for both the individaul print
patient Preference Card and also when we use the Print Preference Card
routines to run all rooms at the same time. This communicates exactly
what is planned to the OR team and also makes it easier to update
Preference Cards because the mnemonic is readily available without
having to go searching through the system for what was originally booked
for the patient. Meditech also needs to realize that this just wasn't
something special for our facility, every OR wants this information and
it is vital for patient safety and for communicating the correct site
and pr!
 ocedure(s) for every patient.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] ORM Procedure Field on Preference Cards

Good afternoon,
We are in the process of implementing ORM and have concerns about the
procedure name field on the physician preference cards. When entering
the procedure, ORM allows the user 40 characters x 4 lines.
Unfortunately only 15 characters print on the preference card. This is
causing concern for our OR staff.

Has this been recognized as a problem for anyone else? If so, how have
you handled it? We've been told that Meditech will usually turn down
custom requests on the preference cards due to their complexity.

Thank you,
Kathy
