Hi Jan/Alan,

We have been able to interface NMI with Pyxis and the case
sensitivity is mirrored in both systems with any changes to the pharmacy
formulary reflected in Pyxis. (I worked a long time with the Pyxis
engineer on this one and I was very thorough in testing. This is a
crucial step!) I'm not sure if I'm missing something because this always
worked for us. The only issue is if something untoward happens in PHA
then it could happen in Pyxis. This is the case with 5.6 with MDX adding
the strength on the end of the trade name which I have reported.
Fortunately it is still in TEST at this point. I loathe busy maintenance
work and with all the changes I've been making to the drug dictionary
lately, this has been a wise investment of effort.

HTH,
Ed

Jan,
Pyxis maintains its own med descriptions. You will need to manually
update them in Pyxis just as you did in Meditech.

We have found that if you interface your Pyxis machines, this lettering
DOES NOT go to Pyxis..
We would like to interface the Pyxis machines but this is a stopper

Hi guys,

I have Test 5.61 SR1 and this is working well with the case
sensitive letters. However, the IV order strings are not working with
the trade name. Related? Have a task into Meditech. I did the actual
ISMP recommendation with the generic name and did something similar to
what Kevin did with the generic equivalent field. I will be deleting
those entries.

Take care,
Ed

Hey Charlie-
I've been doing tall-man for years - the first 4 letters need to be
caps
in
the field...not exactly what ISMP has, but JCAHO likes it nonetheless.

DOPAmine
DOBUTAmine
PREDnisoLONE
METHYLprednisoLONE

Used in the Generic Name Dictionary, these are outputted to PHA
Labels,
MAR's, etc. And it's a pretty easy addition - once changed in the GN
Dictionary, it "auto-updates" the Drug Dictionary...give it a try and
let me
know what you think.

Be well - Kevin.

Below is a response that I received from Meditech on the subject of
tall-man

lettering. Looks like with 5.6 we'll be able to use it.

"Pharmacy DTS 7667 in the 5.6 SR1 release introduces case insensitive
lookups that allows for you to use tall man lettering. I see you are
getting 5.6 in a few weeks and this change will be part of your
update.

I'll have to look further into the thermal label question. I know
that
our
development staff does monitor what is going on with ISMP. "
