Christina:

Take the mnemonic and default it into another comment query and use this
attribute to display the name/phone/address/specialty, anything in the
Provider dictionary associated with that provider mnemonic.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Defaulting Physicians's Abstract/Specialty
ServiceDescription (Magic 5.4)

Hello Lr's,
On our Consultation order, Nursing wants the physician's
service/specialty to default as well. I created a pointer type query but
it defaults the mnemonic only and not the description. It is not really
helping the users that much because some of the mnemonic is not really
clear (ie. OGY for Obstetrics-Gynecology). I don't really want to be
changing the dictionary. See MEDITECH's response below. The other option
I have in mind is to add a default attribute that will spell out each
physician with their matching specialty. I am not too keen on this
option as this is a lot of work and has to be updated if new docs come
aboard. Any input? Thanks!

Ferguson,Glee (MEDITECH) - Mar 18, 2007 - 1459 EDT: In the MIS Doctor
Dictionary the mnemonic is stored not the name. you can do a lookup and
see
both when entering but what is stored there is only the mnemonic. I
think this may explain why this is working this way. I will set it up
in house though for testing.

Ferguson,Glee (MEDITECH) - Mar 18, 2007 - 1519 EDT: This is working the
same in house. When setting up the pointer type query the display field
is mnemonic. Name is not an option. This is the reason why only the
mnemonic will appear. Christine, please let us know if you have any
additional questions. Thank you
