Since the question of changes in pharmacy revenue has been posted, it has
brought another question to mind. I have noticed that in all of the
responses posted, the contributors are referencing their AWPs. About a
three years ago, based on the recommendations of several Medicare
consultants, we switched all of our charge formulas to cost based rather
than AWP. This has been a difficult process for me as it has obviously
considerably reduced our revenue. My question for the "L" is, what are
other pharmacies basing their charge formulas on? AWP, acquisition, or
something else?
