Dawn, I have a script that updates the standard and fee schedule dates, charges and prof components and can update the Alt codes. We use Boston Workstation for our scripting tool.
As far as QC I have all my scripts write detailed log files. I also do a random check of 10 - 15 procedure codes when the script is done. Also most of those fields are limited in what data they will accept and well written scripts are less likely to make mistakes than humans. I get the data from our Revenue Cycle analyst in an Excel spreadsheet. It is a lot faster and easier to key in the info to Excel.
