We have a custom interface for Meditech/McKesson that feeds both the
AcuDose cabinets as well as the Robot-Rx. This was created prior to a
standard Meditech DM interface. We had the same problem with credits
initially but worked with the two vendors to get a mapping process that
works for us. I don't recall all the details, but I know that Meditech
handles credits by matching up the drug mnemonic at a minimum and looks
for DM orders on the account. I believe it credits the most recent DM
order with the matching mnemonic. There are certainly some instances
when the wrong Rx is credited, but being that it is the same drug, it
all comes out in the wash on the bill. We no longer have the problem
you are reporting.

Subject: Re: [MEDITECH-L] PHARMACY CREDITING PROBLEM

Diane,
we're Pyxis, but we have the same problem. It happens when you pull
stuff on override (not profiled by PHA.) Pyxis sends the transaction to
PHA, but it has no Meditech Rx number in Pyxis since it didn't originate
in PHA. When the user credits this override, Meditech doesn't know how
to process it since there is no RX number to tie it back to, hence the
rejection. We're manually doing the credits the next day from a report
that monitors the interface.

There needs to be a way for Meditech to send the Rx number back to
Pyxis/Omnicell so these credits are properly processed automatically. I
think both Pyxis/Omnicell and Meditech will have to be involved in the
solution to fix this hole in the interface.

I'll bet if you look harder, you'll find other interface problems, too.
If you allow your users to manually admit patients into the
Pyxis/Omnicell, and if the account number they provide is not a good
match with what's in Meditech, all associated transactions never make it
PHA and are lost. We have about 600 of these transactions per month...

We have recently updated to Meditech Magic v5.61. Since the update we
have had a problem with credits interfacing from Omnicell to Pharmacy.
They are rejecting with the message "Unable to find matching Rx." We
have been working with and waiting for Meditech to solve this for more
than a month.

Has anyone else had this problem? If yes, has it been resolved?

Thanks,

Diane
