Because of your info, I updated our task and this is Meditech's response:

Pedro,Kelly (MEDITECH) - Apr 4, 2007 - 1145 EDT:
Hi Roberta,
OE DTS 9853 is the enhancement that changed the process of amending and
cancelling orders.

The main reason for this change in functionality, is to add additional
information to the Order Entry Audit Trail when orders are Edited, Held,
Resumed, or Discontinued. The ability to store the additional information
will
provide for a more complete record of the order. Additionally, it will
allow
orders to be properly queued for electronic signature when necessary.

Regarding OE DTS 9853 and the new process of amending and cancelling
orders.
The update group as well as other OE groups have been in discussion with
development on ways to make this functionality friendly for all sites.
Since
this functionality is so integrated in the 5.6 release of OE, there is no
easy
way of just removing the enhancement. Development is actively working on a
Development Design Project to make this enhancement optional. This project
is
expected to be completed by third quarter. I will keep this task at
"Development" status until the project is ready for delivery.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
Kelly

RE: [MEDITECH-L] 5.6 Magic: OE Amend and Cancel Order

Here is the latest response from MEDITECH re: this new feature.

Leary,Sandra (MEDITECH) - Apr 4, 2007 - 1018 EDT: Hi Christina, We have
been working closely with our Development staff to get this project
through as quickly as possible, as we understand that there are many
sites for whom this functionality negatively affects their workflow. I
am checking on the projected time for it to be ready, and will update
the task. Thanks! Sandy

I have bombarded MEDITECH with emails to expedite the process re: this
issue. Hopefully you can do the same just to give them more pressure.
Haven't heard from them again except that it is on the development
stage.

We are testing this, we go live on 5.6 in May, and we complained to
Meditech about it. We can't get past the doctor field w/o entering a
provider and it should be optional.

[MEDITECH-L] 5.6 Magic: OE Amend and Cancel Order

I am doing the OE testing for 5.6 SR1 and I noticed on the Review Orders
screen for Amend Order and Cancel Order strips, the screen has changed.
For Amend Order, the screen looks like this:
 Edit Provider ______ ______________
 Other Provider ______ _______________

The fields where you edit the Serv Date/Time, Quantity, Priority and CDS
are gone.

This is MEDITECH'S response to the above:
Bergstrom,Erik (MEDITECH) - Mar 29, 2007 - 1734 EDT: Hi Cristina, This
screen was introduced with OE enhancement DTS 9853. We have entered a
project proposal (7561) to development to address ways to suppress the
screen. Please feel free to call us and discuss this issue. Thanks,
Erik.

For the Cancel Order screen, similar to the above and the Edit Provider
is required. I don't understand why it is a required field.

Reason for Cancel: ____________________ (less space)
Edit Provider ______ ______________
 Other Provider ______ _______________

For those of you who are already live on 5.6, do you see the same
screens as well? Have they fixed it? Thanks!
