We are also using a separate guest VLAN that routes to a cable modem.

Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Allowing patient to use computers Were in the preliminary stages of setting up a NAC (Network Access Control) server. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/netsol/ns466/networking_solutions_package.htm l This server will allow us to block and/or redirect non-authorized devices on our network. We plan on setting up a guest vlan where the NAC server can redirect non-authorized devices (where patient laptops will fall into) to a separate DSL internet connection (they cannot go through our firewall as we have all sites except authorized ones blocked). We will not allow guests/patients access to our regular network/vlan (through locked down logon's) as there is too much potential for mischief. Once a hacker has access to a PC, locked down or not, on the inside of the main firewall they are halfway there. We will be looking at kiosks dedicated to the guest vlan as well for those patients that do not have access to their own computers. Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Allowing patient to use computers We are weighing allowing our patients or their family to use the in room computers. The plan is to lock down the computer with a guest account only allowing access to the Internet. Is anybody else doing anything like this?
