Hi,
We are running Meditech Magic V5.5 SR2. We have had other vendor
transcription since before my time 10 years ago. When I started we were
interfacing a Dolbey transcription system to Meditech PCI and Meditech
RAD. Since that time we have changed the medical transcription interface
to a Meditech OE/Departmental interface and recently we replaced Dolbey
transcription with Escription's Escribe product. We also send ADT and RAD
orders to the transcription system. So for the transcription system we
officially have 5 interfaces through our interface engine for
transcription.
  1. Meditech ADT to eScription
  2. Meditech RAD orders to eScription
  3. Escribe Medical transcription to Meditech Departmental
  4. Escribe Radiology transcription to Meditech RAD
  5. Escribe Medical transcription to HMED ED system

Escription's product does backend voice recognition. That is the doctors
dictate as they always have over the phone and the recognition happens
afterwards. The transcriptionists are now considered editors. They
review the recognized document for any errors and correct them. In this
way the system learns how to recognize the doctor's dictation and the
doctors don't have to do any editing or training. I believe the system
has made a vast improvement in turnaround time and though every system has
it's issue in general they are very happy with it.

As far as the interface and all of it's transitions we have many customs
mostly related to the RAD part of this. We were able to do it with the
help of our interface engine and Escription support. Some of the customs
we have are:
 - Sending the free-text Other Physician on the ADT interface so that a
copy of the report could be generated for them
 - Sending the free-text RAD Ordering Physicain on the RAD order interface
 - Sending BiRAD codes from the transcription system into the RAD module

Let me know if you have further questions or you want to talk to the Med
Rec Department about their experience.
