We print acute MAR's daily every evening. We do not encourage reprinting a
MAR unless the patient has gone to surgery and there are multiple drug
changes. The MAR is compared to the previous MAR and the physician's orders
(ideally).

We do not have 24hr pharmacy or weekend pharmacy.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Computer Generated MAR - Nurses please help

I would like some input from those of you who are using a printed, computer
generated MAR. We are just starting to move from a hand written MAR in our
acute nursing areas. The long term care site has used it for years and is
comfortable with the process, but we are having trouble getting it going in
acute.

The biggest debate is over the frequency of printing and the MAR checks.
So, a few questions:

1. How often do you print the MAR in the acute areas?

2. Do you do a MAR check when re-printing, or more frequently?

3. What do you check the printed MAR against? The previous MAR?

Thank you so much for any help you could give us.

     Diane
