Hello,

I am wondering whether anyone experiences issues with staff filing their
workload while the patient is temporarily located. The issue we are
having is that when a patient goes off a unit and they are temp located
(like for surgery and they get temp located to Recovery Room or the OR).
Upon returning to the unit if the patient's location is not changed and
the nurse files her workload it gets documented for the unit that they
were temp located to. It seems like it should be a simple process:

1. Patient goes for surgery and is temp located to the OR or RR
2. The Staff in the OR or RR where patient has been temp located to
will change the location back to their Primary Unit when they transfer
the patient back.
3. The RN on the Unit files her workload as per usual.

What actually happens more often than not is that Step 2 is not done
consistently and the nurses do not notice that the location needs to be
corrected before they file their workload. Has anyone come up with a
creative way of reminding staff to verify the location before filing
their workload?
