We have let physician offices use scheduling and it is nice in the fact
that they have immediate access to book appts however it can be a
problem as well. If they don't know the correct mnemonic or if an auth
is required it creates problems. Some were finding ways to "trick" the
system. Some offices would book in "fake" patients just to hold the
spots they wanted to use in the future. We are in the process of
removing this access from physician but it cannot be done easily once
they have had it. First we started with just those appts that require
authorizations and then we will work on a complete removal except for
viewing capabilities for their patient. We are doing this since we went
from decentralized to centralized scheduling dept.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Physician Offices scheduling appointmnets in CWS

Are there any facilities out there letting physician offices or staff
schedule their own appointments through CWS and what has been your
experience if you have?

Thank you .
