I would like to thank all that responded! Your help and ideas are
always greatly appreciated.

Once again at Meditech the right hand does not know what the left is
doing. In other words, in Magic this functionality already exists, in
CS your s#*&!%$. Meditech states that they have heard from other
facilities on this issue and it is being "looked at". I found a MIX
request from another facility BMV 52124807, which Meditech would like to
close due to lack of activity on their part (but of course, once again
blaming the lack of activity on the site). I opened MIX request BMV
5229279, referring back to the original MIX request and pointing out
that this functionality already exists in Magic.

If you are a CS site and are getting ready to implement BMV or e-MAR or
think you may some time in the future, please let Meditech know. We
feel this will be important when the Nurse is ACKnowleding the
medication order. The nurse needs to verify that the med is entered
correctly into Meditech by Pharmacy on the day the order is written, not
try to hunt down the original order and see if any changes were made to
it since then.

Thanks once again,

Hi Terry,

This is a pretty major issue. You have control over this within the
Nursing Parameters - I think it is Process Events but not sure as I
don't have access to these parameters. We advised nursing to set this to
t+ infinity so that all orders would be available for acknowledgement,
but they were reluctant feeling that the eMAR would be too "messy". I
think they decided on T+48 initially - then when reality set in after a
few days increased it to t+2 weeks. We still don't feel this is adequate
because lots of meds are once a month, but it's their call and they have
to live with it. The concern over "messy" is totally irrelevant because
this only affects maybe one line per maybe 20 patients, but they are
convinced it's an issue. If it was up to me, I'd set that parameter at
T+ however many 999999s are available in the prompt. Good luck.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] BMV - FUTURE MED ORDERS - CS

A question came up here, following testing, and we are curious as to how
this is being handled. The question pertains to future med orders
(Physician orders med to begin tomorrow (greater than 24 hours).
Meditech states it will not appear on the e-MAR, so how is the Nurse to
ACKnowledge it? Have you encountered this issue? If so, how are you
handling it?

Thanks,
