Thanks for your responses to the SCH to PRE, One new question to ask, When do you decrement your inventory and/or did your process change when you moved to ORM? Here at WMC we have been doing it two days before the surgery (currently on MSM/PICIS). Our Surgery Dept and MM believe this keeps inventory lower. As to how much lower the volumes We have to keep on hand is up to debate. With ORM the account has to be in the PRE status in Order to do Process Surgical Profiles Item/Implant.
Currently as mentioned above we decrement inventory two days before the case (MSM has a script that runs to automate this process - in ORM this would be manual). OR Schedulers will go into the account after the surgery and do any adjustments. Our thoughts for ORM would have ADM/SCH change the account to PRE with the Pre-OP Admission Assessment. OR would then go into Process Surgical Profile and file the preference card to decrement inventory at the end of day (we have our parameter Issue to MM set to FILE). To me this is creating more routines for our Schedulers (x2). Thanks in advance for your valued insight.
