We currently use Palms and Palmcare for our aides and RT staff to document interventions/care, etc. but now want to make more available for nurses to use as well. We are wondering if - You currently have more than 20 staff using PDA's to document patient care? * All of our RN's, LPN's and CNA's utilize the PDA's. We were a Beta site for Meditech's new POC software almost 3 yrs ago. We are Magic 5.6 Sr0. We have approx. 150+ users that were trained. About 99% of our CNA's utilize it 100% of the time. Our LPN's are approx. ½ of the time and the RN's are about 40% of the time. We are starting to promote it again as we will be utilizing the POC software for the eMAR. Our first unit will be going up in late May/early June. Our RT will only begin to utilize it when we go up with the eMAR. How do you keep track them? This has been a difficult process. We used to have the old DG HH'a since the early 90's and it was struggle back then as well. When we first implemented the new POC software, the charge nurse needed to count them each shift and on Tues/Fri send me an e-mail that they were all accounted for. Just recently we went back to our inpt services division as this was not working. Only received e-mails sporadically. Now, they have a book that they sign the PDA's in and out each shift. But, I am hearing that this is not working well either. So..... I do not have a good suggestion for you. Do you have one central storage & charging station or several? We utililze the Dell Axims (which Dell no longer makes, looking into other PDA's) but each PDA has it's own docking station located on the units with the PDA's. We also have a spare battery as well. Are they assigned by: Group Location Each location has it's own PDA's. We looked at the staffing for each shift and then give them enough PDA's plus two spares for the shift that has the most staff, usually days so evenings and nights would have more spares. Example: Medsurg unit has 5 staff nurses (includes CNA) so they would have 7. Individual ??? We're just looking for ideas and possible solutions. Thanks!
