I was just wondering friday morning how Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, GA was doing following the March 1st tornado and happened to receive the following email this weekend;
Hello Paul, from Americus, GA and Sumter Regional Hospital! Let me begin by saying a heartfelt Thank You for all that you done for SRH. We are grateful for your generosity in giving to our effort to help us get back on our feet. Thank You! We wanted to update all those who have been so benevolent and faithful with their on-line gifts. In an effort to keep you abreast of the progress we are making, SRH has moved from the M.A.S.H. tents (Phase I) to a more "temporary-permanent" structure (Phase II). The hard-walled, modular constructed, structure is located on Forsyth Street in the parking lot of the Outpatient Diagnostic & HealthPlex Center. Affectionately, this site has been named Sumter Regional East, approximately 200 yards east from the previous main entrance (See attachments). The scope of services provided is still limited to urgent care and non-invasive outpatient procedures. SRH has been averaging nearly 150 patients' visits, even under less than ideal circumstances. This is continued testimony that SRH meets the healthcare needs of this 8 rural county area and further demonstrates how underserved these communities are. The transition seems to have gone well. Thanks to all the hard-working members of the SRH family and volunteers who spent last weekend moving equipment so that patients could transition with little or no inconvenience. More enhanced services will begin to occur within 3-4 months. An interim facility will be constructed at the same site as Sumter Regional East. The completion of this structure represents Phase III. This building will have 2 operating suites and 64 beds and will be suitable for more extensive outpatient procedures. Floor plans are being finalized and ground breaking should commence in the middle of the month. The interim building will be operational for 2-3 years. Insurance adjusters and hospital administrators are close to finalizing settlements for the demolition and reconstruction of a brand new facility. A meeting has been called for next Thursday. It is still our intention to build a brand new facility, as opposed to rebuilding or renovating. The meeting this week should provide valuable information with regards to the sources of funds available for that replacement facility. The construction and completion of this project represents the 4 th and final phase of our recovery. In closing, we continue to covet your prayers and support as we move through the various phases of our recovery process. Needs are still pressing and very much still evident. We have just completed a new video depicting our saga and process thus far. You may see this at <http://www.srhfoundation.com/download> . If you have questions or would like to inquire about specific needs that SRH still has, please feel free to call me at (229) 389-9123 or contact me by email at [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> . Sincerely, Nyla Franklin I have not attached the pictures Nyla included, but they show the current modular facilities.
