Jean - The MIS toolbox parameters in 5.61 now have a place where you choose
a BMI formula. Perhaps this is why your calculation fails. Below is a task
that I set up which contains information on this. Hope this helps.

Please look at the following DTS:

MG ADM 4461 - BSA might not be calculated after filing height and

weight

Available in Releases: 5.6 SR1Request Type: Correction

Associated Requests: N/A

Search Flags: Canadian: N; Parameters: N; Conversions: N; Data

Definitions: N

General Description

Previously, it was possible to file a weight without a value for OZ.
However,

the calculation for Body Surface Area (BSA) only occurs after filing height
and

weight if all six values are passed into the filer: FT, IN, CM, LB, OZ and
KG.

The BSA was not calculated when there was not an entry for OZ..

This has been corrected.

I have a test patient in 5.5 and one in 5.6 where I entered identical

information with nothing in the ounce field, yet get a BSA of 1.38 in 5.61
and

1.39 in 5.5. I know that this is only a .01 difference, but I did the

calculation on a calculator and came up with 1.39. Why the difference.

I've enteed the information on the following patients, but didn't file just
in

case you wanted to dial in and figure out what is going on.

Why the small discrepancy? If I fill in the zero for ounces, it makes no

difference either.

Thanks,

Charlie

Calculations have ben centralized in the MUIS Clinical parameters per DTS
6820:

With this enhancement, calculations for the calculation of body surface area

(BSA), ideal body weight (IBW), creatinine clearance and carboplatin dose

formulas have been centralized. The centralization of filers and calculation

programs ensures that all applications are producing consistent results
using

the same formulas.

The formulas have been added to the MIS Clinical Parameters, page 2.

The Body Surface Area (BSA) formulas are:

BOYD

DUBOIS

GEHAN&GEORGE

HAYCOCK

MOSTELLER

The Idea Body Weight formulas are:

DEVINE

LORENTZ

MILLER

PEDIATRIC

ROBINSON

TRABU

TRAUB

The Creatinine Clearance formulas are:

COCKROFT&GAULT

JELLIFFE

SANAKA

SCHWARTZ

The MIS Clinical Parameters are available from the following toolboxes:

EPS, LAB, NUR, OE, PHA, RADRW, and can be defined by facility.

Steps to Test:

1. Verify MIS Clinical Parameters displays:

Default Body Surface Area (BSA) Formulas:

BOYD

DUBOIS

GEHAN&GEORGE

HAYCOCK

MOSTELLER

Ideal Body Weight (IBW) Formulas:

DEVINE

LORENTZ

MILLER

PEDIATRIC

ROBINSON

TRABU

TRAUB

Default Creatinine Clearance Formulas:

COCKROFT&GAULT

JELLIFFE

SANAKA

SCHWARTZ

Weight Display:

ACTUAL

IDEAL

2. Verify Page 2 of the MIS Clinical Parameters is Facility-specific.

3. Verify MIS Clinical Parameters are available in the following toolboxes:

EPS, LAB, NUR, OE, PHA, RADRW.

Can I have permission to dial in and set the Parmaterr to match the PHA CDP

entry? Also I will need an Age Range for the system to review. Vic

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] BMI in 5.5 & 5.61

 Hello Listers;

We had an attribute that calculated BMI successfully in 5.4.3 for years.

Two weeks ago we converted to 5.61 (double upgrade) and now the calculation

fails. I saw the note below asking about a 5.5 calculation so am wondering

if something changed with that release?

Does anyone have insight or a fix??? We'd appreciate your help!

Good day

Would someone be so kind as to share with me an attribute for calculating

BMI that will work in 5.5 Magic.

You will be much appreciated.
