We have a CDS, attached to the provider page in ADM. This CDS is called if the physician is 'other'. The scheduling staff enter the necessary information, including PIN #'s if available. If the patient presents without a scheduled appt, then the registration staff enter the information. They take a screen shot of this, and send to an Outlook distribution group, and to our Help Desk, which sets up a ticket to enter the physician. Inlcuded in the distribution group is IS, Med Records, Med Staff, and the Radiology RIS group. The provider is entered into the MSI Provider Dictionary, for the requesting facility. B/AR can't bill an 'other' physician, so this handles the provider setup, and notifications. HTH, Cindy Bodnar-Anderson Senior Programmer/Analyst IS, Regional Health Rapid City SD 57701

For the longest time we have used a generic "OTHER" as the ordering physician (in order to get the patient registered and taken care of quickly), with research and Provider dictionary entries made by our Medical Staff Office after the fact, and sometimes rather 'haphazardly' at that. Because of the late entries, RAD reports often do not get sent to the ordering provider (but get 'sent' somehow to Dr Other), and with the new requirement for NPI numbers and claims potentially rejecting for no NPI, among other things, we know we need to find a solution to this situation. Is this situation experienced by any of you? If so, how does your process work? I'd welcome any suggestions, comments, or ideas.....by the way, we are Magic 5.5 SR3. Thanks in advance for any input, Julie Carlson Meditech Systems Analyst Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics Arlington, WA 98223 (360)435-2133 ext 5017 ****************************************************************************** DISCLAIMER - Email is not considered secure.
