Brandon,

I'm not sure I'm understanding why the OR appointment has to be removed. If
the appointment on the 28th is an Outpatient procedure, it should be done on a
separate V# and date of service than the appointment that is booked for the
29th. If they are being admitted after the procedure on the 28th, they are
no longer an outpatient. Have you tried to use the Switch Account number
routine to change the PRE SDC surgery to the Inpatient number if they are being
admitted after the first procedure?

Thanks,

Subject: PRE SCH patients issue

I am hoping someone can help me out by explaining how they handle the following
situation.

OR Pre Schedules a patient for surgery, let's say for the 29th, then the
patient's doctor decides to have them come in on the 28th for an outpatient
procedure. Admissions wants to use the same encounter number from the Pre Sch
patient since they are going from Outpatient status right over to inpatient
status but because the patient is Pre Scheduled Admissions cannot change the
date of service when they admit them early unless we have OR remove the
patient's appointment. This doesn't happen too often but it does enough to be
a nuisance. Does anyone have a set process on how they handle this?
