Yes, the pixis or omnicell, will carry the override into the eMAR so
that it can be documented on.  We did that for awhile and actually the
nurses will still do it, especially on STAT orders.  However, we have
started to outsource our pharmacy after hours and have been doing this
for a little over a year.  This has worked out wonderfully.  We fax all
new orders to the outsourced pharmacy and the pharmacist then can check
for allergies and drug interactions and then they put the drug in and we
can get it out of one of the pixis or omnicells.  So far it has worked
very well.  Turnover time of faxing and seeing it in the eMAR is about
15-20 min.
