APPLICATION SPECIALIST II
Computer Information Services
FLSA Exempt
REPORT TO: System Analysts Computer Information Services
JOB OBJECTIVE: To help facilitate the implementation and support of the
various modules of MEDITECH as well as integration of these modules.
Provides software application support by troubleshooting daily issues.
Develops user sign on and access appropriate to their job description.
Provides help with report writing as requested. Acts as liaison between
end users and vendor, monitoring tasks for expedient resolution.
Monitors system functionality and resolves or reports problems as well
as enhancing functionality through process and reports. May be called
upon to train/educate end users as needed. Documents processes as
appropriate. Works closely with other members of the CIS team to
problem solve and improve services to end users.
Functions frequently as team leader for implementation and
project work within the department. Also involved in interdisciplinary
team projects (with other departments/facilities)
Can complete multiple tasks
independently or with minimal guidance. Demonstrates ability to
prioritize tasks with an appreciation for critical decision making. Able
to self-manage assuming full ownership of overall outcomes from start to
finish. Demonstrates exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
Able to create user access and menus for system functionality. Able to
execute testing in an integrated environment while incorporating quality
management concepts. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical workflow and is
able to incorporate into problem-solving and report writing for
applications. Able to identify complex system function including user
needs, user set-up, training needs, and day-to-day support. Able to
provide user support which includes, but is not limited to direct user
support, executing a back-up plan for system downtimes, and
reporting/responding to user issues. Pursues opportunities for
self-development. Stays current with industry trends as they relate to
job responsibilities.
Able to identify problems, their
probable causes, their impact on operations, report them to the
appropriate parties, offer possible solutions, and decide on the optimal
course of action; able to independently and/or collaboratively bring
problems to complete resolution. Knows when to seek and accept guidance
from those with advanced experience. Able to provide guidance and/or
support across modules. Acts as a role model to other team members.
Able to delegate tasks appropriately.
Must be well organized and systematic in work process.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree preferred, Associates Degree required,
or comparable work experience in a relevant field. Hospital work
experience highly preferable. Leadership, problem solving and good
communication skills required. Strong understanding of common software
applications (ex. MS Office) required. Strong understanding of personal
computers required. Prefer experience with MEDITECH NPR Report Writer
and software applications.
SCHEDULE: Primarily weekdays with some additional hours needed for
project completion or problem resolution.
