Hello,
We are a Magic 5.5 sr3 hospital and have starting using the self-assign
feature in PCI for our non-provider (physician office staff), and are
experiencing a problem with our providers. Our parameters are defined
as IP, Limited and Yes

Are you using the self-assign feature for physicians/providers?

Are you using the self-assign feature for non-providers?

If yes, how are your parameters defined?

What is your process for physicians/providers to get to patient data for
those they have no current association with? Example: Physician has a
conversation in the hall with another physician and no consult is
entered in the computer

How do you accommodate anesthesiologist, radiologists, hospitalists,
pathologists and other physicians that have no association with any
patient based on the type of care they provide?

We have a PCI custom from Meditech which allows us to use the
self-assign feature for non-providers, by "restricting" them to the
staff identified in the provider/provider group fields on page 3 of the
MIS dictionary and answering the Assigned Only question? N. This causes
the self-assign feature to invoke, but still allows the user to select
patients not associated with their provider or provider group but
requires a them to enter the reason they are viewing the patient.

We want to restrict our physicians/providers in the same manner but have
found that if you enter additional providers/provider groups on page 3,
regardless of how you answer Assigned Only the physician is totally
restricted to only the patients with associations to those defined.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance.
