If we had to do our implementation over again for an HR system, I would DEFINITELY have pushed harder to stay with Meditech. The main reason for this was that it is very hard to split Payroll and Human Resources. Too much information is being gathered for one system that affects the other. Benefit codes, earning codes, withholdings, etc. all need to match up. Unless someone is willing to maintain two systems adequately, you need to keep them together. Which we did.
That being said, taking Payroll out of the integrated system creates new problems. It is no longer in ESS, GL interfaces need to be created. Accounting needs to understand the new system very well along with HR. If you have Nursing and/or scheduling tied in, it isn't any more. User mnemonics are not integrated. I am not against HR systems ( we went with Ultimate Software Systems), but system integration is SO very important that in hindsight I think Meditech's system would have been wonderful. As PP is really a payroll system, it does not meet the needs of our HR department. I would like to hear from hospitals that are using the Meditech HR module and any other HR systems.
