Hello,

We have the Magic platform, 5.5.2 version and we recently implemented
Gemserv/Gempay by Common Cents Solutions. Patients LOVE this system
because it is like Room Service. They receive a menu upon admission and
with any diet changes (based on their diet in Order Entry). They can
place a call to our Call Center and order what items they want from the
menu and the time that they would like it delivered. Each tray is
prepared hot and fresh and delivered at the specified time. The
software system prevents inappropriate orders (Na+, K+, Calories, Fluid
Restriction, etc) based on the specifications of each diet in the Order
Entry system and will not let the Call Center order inappropriate items
for the patient.

Only patients that are on insulin have a very slim time frame for tray
delivery, so they do have a delivery time choice, but it's they only
have two options within 30 min (for example, they may choose 11:30 or
11:45 for a lunch tray). That way they won't drop their sugar if
they've been medicated with their daily insulin dosing prior to lunch.

Patient info goes from Meditech via the ADT. The ADT is from our
interface suite on Meditech and gets to Gemserv via Summit.

The diet interface is direct from Meditech to GEM.

Now, this is the downside and it was a doozy...the installation was a
"_itch"!!! We were VERY unhappy with our installer. She is notorious
for not responding to emails until our CIO is forced to get involved
with both her CIO and CEO. She continues to not put any effort to minor
programming/filtering issues, so sometimes the Gemserv system shows 2
patients in one bed, although one has been discharged. It has to do
with A03 messages.

Anyway, the software works very well - it's just the installer/service
person we're unhappy with.

Best of luck - hope the info helps!

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Dietary Systems

Hello All;

Just wondering what dietary systems are in place at other MAGIC sites.
We're investigating implementing one here. The only one I know of is
medDietary from PICISMsM.

Anyone using anything else that they'd recommend?

Cheers,
