Our admission process triggers up to nearly a dozen referrals to other
departments.
We immediately realized that nurses can't always get in, complete the
entire history, and file, so we couldn't make those questions required.
Also, we didn't want the same referrals printing multiple times.
Our solution was to create two interventions: Admission, HX and
Admision, Referrals.
Very few queries on the HX are required, allowing the nurse to start,
edit, and complete it in different episodes. Query Links is set to "N".
The Referral intervention only has the queries needed for the referral
process. The queries are required for this intervention, the
intervention is set to <recall>, and Query Links is set to "A".
Once the nurse has completed the HX, they can document the Referral
intervention. All of the queries autopopulate, so the nurse only has to
<file> it. This then triggers the referrals and printing of the HX.
In your situation, the second intervention could have the exact same CDS
as the first, but only trigger query links from the second intervention.
This would allow the RN to verfify the history entered by the LPN.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] query linking diagnosis to care plans
frominterventions
For those of you out there that use query links to add diagnosis
to the care plan, how do you accomplish adding a care plan on the
admission assessment by triggering diagnosis if the nurse is an LPN? Do
you have an RN review the care plan chosen by the LPN and document a
note, etc..?
