Hi, (more a community processes issue than a dev issue - changing list)

The issue with both Smeegol & debian-meego is that these are two distributions who want to package the MeeGo netboox UX & other software from the platform for their distribution. And the problem comes from the conflation of MeeGo the system (with the appropriate & relevant certification process) and MeeGo Netbook UX, MeeGo Handset UX, etc... the software for that system. Who would we have to talk to to go about getting the UX layer software rebranded to avoid this conflation? It seems to me it would solve a lot of these problems. I would draw a parallel between Ubuntu & Unity - imagine if Unity were called "Ubuntu Netbook"? Then Canonical would reasonably claim "brand dilution" & source confusion if an OpenSuse Ubuntu Netbook came out, or a Fedora Ubuntu Netbook (or whatever) - there's no way to make this better. By branding the UI layer Unity, Canonical have made it easy and even desirable to have Unity on Debian, Unity on Fedora, etc. It avoid any confusion of source - the system is Fedora, the UX is Unity.
