Open Source Junction brings together the best business and academic minds to explore how the two sectors can jointly innovate and exploit open source mobile technologies. The second event in the series focuses on context-aware mobile technologies. In computer science context-awareness refers to the idea that computers can both sense and react based on their environment. Context includes location (the users' absolute or relative position, surrounding resources, physical conditions, such as noise or light levels), but is often understood as a broader process involving users themselves (their habits or emotional states, patterns of social interaction, types of activity etc.) This two-day workshop will showcase a selection of successful context-aware mobile projects, and will provide delegates with key knowledge of open innovation and open development, which will help them build sustainable industry-academia partnerships in this field. Benefits of attending: Become familiar with the main issues concerning open innovation in software Learn about open source business models, community building, IPR, processes and tools Find out about successful open source context-aware mobile projects Understand the benefits of joining an industry-academia open source mobile community Explore partnership opportunities with past and present OSJ attendees Target audience: R&D managers, senior strategists, software developers in the mobile industry Principal Investigators, research staff, project managers in Higher Education and Research Funding bodies with an interest in context-aware mobile technologies The event will take place at Wolfson College in Oxford. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. A number of accommodation options are available for individual booking.
