In fact, this is a generic option in all Bios's that basically looks for the Ethernet adapter OpROM and enables the PXE OpROM if it is found. There is no such ROM on our board. This is also where the MAC address is typicall stored which is why it's not found later in the boot process. The driver in this case assigns a random one.
