This is not part of alsa. This is a side path to alsa and allows us to offload
dsp functions from apps to dsp.
As of today there is no standard way to this, alsa maintainers also agree
that this should be done in long term, but for now we have to live with these
proprietary interfaces

Having gotten an earful from Linus last week on new interfaces..... has
someone reviewed and approved this new interface?
