So can someone tell me what the status of this patchset for inclusion
in Meego is?
Do I need to resubmit the patchset with proper descriptions?
Are there issues with the content or just the packaging?
well I don't like adding ioctls before upstream supports the ABI.
but it's kinda hard to judge since I don't know what you're trying to do
....

So you're saying (more or less) that a prerequisite to meego acceptance is
upstream acceptance??
eventual upstream acceptance is a hard requirment yes (within 3 months
or so).
but for things where you add an ABI to userspace, there is a harder
requirement... because of the compatibility guarantee that goes along
with such ABI.
we've already had some trainwrecks where an upstream ABI conflicted with
an ABI from the UMG team because the UMG team did not get their ABI
upstream quick enough.
when you add an IOCTL, you add a userspace ABI, that has implications
for the applications that use it. What if upstream changes the ABI? what
if it changes the ioctl number?
etc etc.
