Yes - our intent has been to push straight to upstream and this
package should get auto updated when kernel-dev migrates to newer
kernel. we do not intend to maintain anything other than a defconfig
in this package.

I guess you are talking about kernel-dev-panda package in
devel:devices:pandaboard and not in devel:kernel
devel:devices:pandaboard contains more or less the TI private kernel.
devel:kernel was supposed to contain the final upstream kernel - at
least that was the intent. devel:devices:pandaboard is more or less
unmaintained atm, focus as I mentioned was get required support
upstream so that devel:kernel will have the display, networking etc
features to bring UI up and running and allow community involvement.

kernel-dev-{panda, u8500, n900} were dependent on unmaintained kernel-dev. Since kernel-dev is removed from devel:kernel all of these were in broken state :( I have removed all the three packages.

I wanted to remove all the unmaintained stuff from devel:kernel.
Are we removing the entire devel:kernel?

No.

Cheers,
Ameya.
