I'm intending to split up the MeeGo sample-media package for MeeGo-1.2:
- sample-media will remain to exist, except it will contain only the
bare minimum sample files:
* only ~ 3 minutes of video samples
* only ~ 5 minutes of audio samples
* only ~ 20 images
- there will be a new sample-media-full package, probably huge in size
(300-500MB) that contains a large selection:
* several full (10+minute) video samples, in several resolutions
ranging from handset size (QVGA) to HD
* several full albums of music of diverse genres
* a larger selection of images
* ...
Motivation: The current sample media package serves 2 purposes: demo,
and test. The demo purpose requires showcase media, but the test purpose
often does not, and so we're shipping 200mb of uncompressable files on
every handset image that isn't used. With this split, we can reduce the
imact for test purposes by 100-150mb (potentially) while still providing
an adequate sized library for demo purposes.
