This is a revised plan that has been approved and was previously communicated.
Project structure changes, revised plan

As a measure of cleanup of the build system we are planning to redo the project
structure.
The restructuring would happen in 2 steps:
1) Step 1: Start EOD 2011-02-04
- Move Trunk:{Handset|Netbook|IVI}/* to Trunk
- Make Trunk:Testing a link to Trunk
- Initial package cleanup of new Trunk project.
Result:
- Trunk
- Trunk:non-oss
Additionally, both Trunk:Testing and Trunk:non-oss:Testing projects will be
available to support development and testing of the above projects.
How will this affect you?
* Image configurations will need to be changed and would point to at least 2
repos: oss and non-oss.
* If you have been developing against one of the Trunk sub-projects
(Netbook,Handset, IVI), then you will need to re-branch or relink to the new
Trunk:Testing project
2) Step Two: Start 2011-02-04 - End 2011-02-28
- Complete maintainer survey and have > 90% of packages assigned to a
dedicated bug owner (Complete by end of February)
- Provide tools or use existing tools to check for bogus dependencies and
cleanup package groups so they would only pull a defined set of packages
without any bogus dependencies. (For example: tests, examples and bindings that
would pull python or perl or various widget kits)
Many packages will be moving around or even completely removed. Please make
sure you cleanup your home projects and delete packages or sub-projects you are
no longer working on to avoid broken links.
Other notes:
- Trunk:{IVI|Netbook|Handset} will still be available for a short period of
time, but will be disabled. Any change requests to those projects will be
declined or redirected to Trunk:Testing/Trunk.
- After completion of the move, all kickstart files and images will be modified
to point to the new repos.
