Auke Mutter is used because XBMC might not be the only thing you want to use ;-) For example there is the TV browser (based off chromium) that launches from XBMC.
in that case, make sure the xbmc.desktop is set to high priority and restarting is enabled using the X-MeeGo-* extensions available in uxlaunch.
