Meep doesn't support non-rectangular unit cells, at least not directly.
To deal with a triangular lattice, you have to use a supercell. This will
cause the band structure to be "folded". However, if you take your point
source and replicate it according to the underlying triangular lattice
vectors, with the right phase relationship according to the Bloch
wavevector, then it should excite the folded bands only with very low
amplitude (as reported by harminv).
