Dear Steven and MEEP’s users,

I decrease the radius of the nearest-neighbor holes (6 holes) or 2 nearest
–neighbor holes with the x direction around the single point defect cavity in
PC slab (triangular lattice of holes). After making the structure, I applied
the Hz source to get the resonant frequencies, and mode symmetries (monopole,
dipole, quadrupole, and hexapole mode).

According to your suggestion, this structure has an *even* z=0 mirror symmetry
plane and no other symmetry, and then I put the Hz source in a *random*
(non-symmetric) location in the z=0 plane (not at 0,0), e.g. at (0.123 0.351 0)
{hole radius of the bulk crystal is 0.35a}. That way I will excite the modes
regardless of their symmetry. Is it right or wrong? Because my movie files are
not right, (I refer to some papers). Could you explain more detail?

I thank you in advance,

Sung Park Lee
