Dear Steven and MEEP's users,
According to the PRL 78, 3294 (1997). The authors define the extraction
efficiency as the fraction of emitted fux through the top and bottom surfaces
of the slab to the total emitted flux. My sytucture is PC slab of air holes. I
have some questions would like to ask you:
  1. I use the Gaussian dipole source (Ey). This efficiency is obtained by the
ratio of the z component of the Poynting vector integrated over a rectangular
parallelepiped to the normal component integrated over the same surface. In
this case, What can I define the height, the width and the length of the
parallelepiped?
 2. In MEEP, What can I define to calculate the normal components? (the total
emitted flux)
 3. I want to obsever the extraction efficiency over the large of frequency
(fcen: 0.5, and the width 1.0). What can I do in this case?

I thank you in advance!

Nils Jensen
