fields::m (which is actually of type double) is for cylindrical coordinates, where the fields go like exp(i*m*phi). (In any cylindrical simulation that includes the origin, m must be an integer. However for simulations that don't include the origin, m can be a non-integer value, which is useful for some types of waveguide-bend calculations.)
