Either Meep is badly mis-installed, or you aren't running Meep.   
Perhaps you are running MPB by mistake?

If you run "meep" on the Unix command line, and then (once you get the  
"meep>" prompt) type "k-point", it should print "#f" (the default  
value of this variable).  If it doesn't print that, then something is  
terribly wrong with your Meep installation.

Please re-read what I wrote in my previous post several times and  
think about it for a few hours.  Your question makes no sense.  PML is  
not an alternative to periodic boundary conditions.  It is not a  
boundary condition.  I'm not going to keep explaining the same thing.
