Hello Meep Users and Steven,
I'm trying to image the propagation of a gaussian pulse as in impinges
on a thin film photonic crystal (i.e. inverted opal). I've captured a field
every unit time step and have put together the fields and the dielectric in
a gif, which shows the field propagation in a center slice of the
computation cell.
I can see the propagation of
the pulse towards the slab then bounce back. My question is what does the
blue and red represent? Since the pulse is gaussian (multi wavelength),
I'm not exactly sure if the pulse is showing the oscillation of one
particular wavelength, or width of the pulse.
Some interpretation would be appreciation. Hope the gif attaches, if not,
I hope people can visualize what I'm trying to say.
