Hi Meep users/Steven,

I'm actually new to meep simulations and I found a thread in the above topic
which suits for my applications. But in this case, the provided details for
implementation of focused Gaussian beam is not available.

For clarity i post the comment made by steven as follwos,

If you put in a spatial-Gaussian source with zero phase, your beam waist
will be at the source position. If you want the beam waist to be at a
position other than the position of the source, you need to adjust the
phase of the beam accordingly.

This should be a textbook math problem: if you assume you have a Gaussian
beam profile with zero phase at some plane x=x0, then you can work out the
beam profile (including phase) at any other plane x=x1 by taking the
Fourier transform and looking at the propagation of each planewave
component, and then inverse Fourier transforming. In this way, you can
work out the desired source profile at any plane x=x1 to get a Gaussian
beam waist at x=x0.

Does any one implemented a Gasussian beam which having waist in a location
other than the source plane?
If so can you point me some direction to implement this?

thanks in advance.

Shoshi.
