I'm not sure what transmission spectrum you are expecting -- that
figure is not a transmission spectrum at all, it is a band diagram
(and inferring a band diagram from a transmission spectrum, or vice
versa, is a tricky enterprise). The figure in the book was computed
with MPB. I would start with that.
