Dear Dr Johnson,
I would like to simulate the modes of a L3 PhC slab cavity, triangular
lattice. Following the approach in the tutorial, I excited the cavity
with the following source:
(set! sources (list
(make source
(src (make gaussian-src (frequency fcen) (fwidth df)))
(component Ey) (center (/ a 9.1347) 0 0 ))))
(set! symmetries (list (make mirror-sym (direction Y) (phase -1))
(make mirror-sym (direction Z) (phase +1)) ))
(run-sources+ 400
(at-beginning output-epsilon)
(after-sources (harminv Ey (vector3 (/ a 9.1347) 0 0) fcen df)))
First, I excited with a broad source (fcen=0.23, df=0.2) and I got
reasonable frequencies and Qs, together with an electrical field
having the three usual lobs at the centre of the cavity.
When I excited the cavity with a narrow source centred around the
fundamental mode (fcen=0.232, df=0.01), I still obtain seemingly good
frequency and Q, but when I plot the field, it is concentrated in some
air holes and no field is present in the cavity.
Would you have any suggestions to fix this problem?
Best regards,
Alessandro Surrente
