Hello! Although my questions are on MPB, I thought I should post it here too. Thanks
I have few vary basic questions. I am new to this subject and really don't know anything. In the two examples given in the MPB Data Analysis Tutorial, i.e. the Triangular Lattice of Rods and the Diamond Lattice of Spheres, band gaps are always at some k-points. For example in the first example, the first TM gap is the difference in frequencies of band 1 at K and band 2 at M. Similarly, in the second example, the gap is the difference between frequencies of band 2 at U and band 3 at L. Is this the case for every problem? Does the shape of the irreducible Brillouin zone depend on the shape and/or orientation of objects at lattice points? If I change spheres of the example Diamond Lattice of Spheres, to ellipsoids, will the irreducible Brillouin zone change? Does the shape of the Brillouin zone depend on the shape and/or orientation of objects at lattice points? Are the vectors in (set! k-points [list of vector3]) in MPB given in the unit of 2*Pi? Are there any websites or other references where I can get a list of k-points (given in reciprocal basis) for different type of 3D lattices? What is a "canonical order" for corners of the irreducible Brillouin zone? Thank you very much, Kaushik _______________________________________________ meep-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://ab-initio.mit.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/meep-discuss
