Hello all meep users, I am struggling with simulations involving materials with negative epsilon. I tried to look for help in the discussion archives and tried all possible solutions suggested but still i am struggling with this.
I am using meep (version 1.1.1). Material i am particularly interested in is copper with epsilon = -30.9 + i 0.9 at 850 nm wavelength. I tried the following tricks mentioned in tutorials and the discussion archives: 1) setting eps-averaging=False 2) i used polarizability data dispersion data from material dispersion tutorial as an example. 3) also tried to have R(eps)=eps_infinity and SigmaD=(2 pi f Im(eps)/R(eps)) These tricks didnt work and the output was "NaN". I would be very much thankful if someone could help me to get through this problem. An example with negative epsilon if included in the tutorial, would be very much helpful... -Triratna Graduate Research Student, Dept. of Chemical and Materials Engineering University of Alberta.
