Dear Dr. Steven and Meep users,
I am working on a rectangular dielectric slab waveguide, interested in
knowing the transmission spectra and later the coupling coefficients.
I wanted to see what is the incident power that my source is sending out.
I am using a continuous wave source with a wavelength of 1.55 microns. (or
frequency of 0.645 as all my units are in microns)
I get good field patterns. (using h5topng)
The problem is when I look at the electric field (or even Poynting
vector) values. I am using the "get-field-point" function to output the values.
The amplitude of the power output is not constant at every time step.
It is increasing with a gradual slope. Comparing this with the physical
scenario, this should not happen. The power
output of a 1.55 micron laser is fixed and should not vary.
Moreover, when I try to plot the incident power versus time, or normalized
power versus time, I get a
sinusoidal curve. When I measure the frequency from the plot, I am not
getting 0.645!! I get the frequency as 1.25 !
The frequency of the continuous source should not change as it propagates in
time right?
I am attaching the results file to illustrate this.
I searched through the archives for a similar problem but no success.
After setting the geometry, I have done the following:
(set! sources (list
(make source
(src (make continuous-src (wavelength 1.55)))
(component Ez)
(center (* -0.5 (- sxy (* 2 pad) (* 2 dpml))) wvg-ycen)
(size 0 w))))
(set! pml-layers (list (make pml (thickness dpml))))
(set-param! resolution 10)
(define (myoutput)
(print (meep-time) ","" Incident, " (get-field-point Ez (vector3 -12
0)) ","" Transmitted," (get-field-point Ez (vector3 -3.5 0))"\n"))
(run-until 200 (at-every 0.5 myoutput))
The waveguide is from -12 to -4 units.
I would be really grateful if someone throws light on this. Please advise.
Thanking you,
Sanchit
